Part-time goalscorer, full-time heartthrob Gervinho is said to be getting the boot from Roma very soon.

The forward, who played for Arsenal for a grand total for two seasons, hasn’t actually been doing too badly for the Italian team this season after scoring six goals in 14 appearances in Serie A. However, Roma are planning on cashing in on the 28-year-old with talks with Chinese club Jiangsu Suning currently going ahead.

The forward never quite hit the ground running in north London. He had times when he looked as if he could be brilliant but his goals for us came once in a blue moon and he ended up fluffing chances even the most inept of forwards should have been slotting home. His miss against Bradford in the Carling Cup in 2012 was the final straw for most Gooners, whose patience had been wearing thin for months.

In his total time at Arsenal, Gervinho scored just 11 goals and got 12 assists in 63 appearances, which is poor by any club’s standards.

As much as I wish him luck in the next chapter of his life, I’m glad he’s no longer our problem.
