Mathieu Debuchy is set to join West Brom on loan as he looks to reignite his Euro 2016 hopes.

The Frenchman was absent, once again, from the Arsenal match day squad and it seemed certain that he would be on his way from the club, despite it leaving the Gunners criminally short at the back.

Making his feelings clear this season, Debuchy was never likely to tolerate playing back up to the player he feels has stolen his position and the only surprise in this whole saga is that it is West Brom he is joining rather than a decent club (when Tony Pulis leaves we’ll be nice about them again).

Linked with West Brom last week, it seems as if the deal will complete sooner rather than later despite a late link with Lyon and Roma.

Calum Chambers will continue his role as utility player and serve as back up to ‘Ector…unless we bring in another player which is not likely at all.
