Internazionale midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is still being linked with a move to north London.

He was reportedly an Arsenal target a year ago, and the Italian media say the Gunners are now ready to swoop for him. Inter signed him on an 18 month loan last winter, with an obligation to buy at the end of the contract.

However, he has failed to have a huge impression in Serie A and has only started six league games so far this season. Either there is something in these links to Arsenal, or either the club or the player is desperate for a transfer. La Repubblica are the latest publication to link Arsenal with a move for the Croatian, and they say Arsenal have a big of €25m ready to send.

That’s over £18m, and seems incredibly unlikely to be the truth. Arsenal are waiting for Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere to return, and are close to completing the signing of Mohamed Elneny for a fraction of the reported Brozovic fee.

Simply put, the club don’t need even more midfielders and certainly won’t be inclined to spend almost £20m on bit-part players at Internazionale, who are currently top of Serie A. Would they want to sell? Unlikely, considering the sort of fee that’s being thrown around. It seems that Brozovic is keen on leaving, perhaps for Arsenal, and his agent is attempting to create interest.
