In what is probably one of the least surprising things to happen this summer, Chelsea’s Charly Musonda, who has been heavily linked with a move across London to Arsenal, is headed for Real Betis on loan.

The youngster has been vocal about his lack of chances at Stamford Bridge and has been trying to engineer a move for a while now. Arsenal, with their track record of developing youngsters, topped the list when the media were linking him with other clubs, but Real Betis have won out.

The loan is until the end of the season and the Spanish side will have an option to extend it for a further 12 months should they like what they see from the highly-rated midfielder who turned down the chance to join Vitesse Arnhem last summer to sign a new contract with Chelsea.

There will be no option to buy Musonda for Betis and no indication that the Arsenal links were anything other than agent nonsense or media spin.
