Both Jack Butland and Petr Cech made their fair share of world class saves during our 0-0 draw with Stoke.

However, only one man could win Man of the Match and that was Cech.

Speaking after the match, the 22-year-old revealed how much he admires the former Chelsea man.

“His record speaks for itself,” he said.

“What stood out for me was that in the first half he had no saves to make in and then in the second half, when we did turn on the pressure, he was there when they needed him and that’s what being a good goalkeeper is all about.

“So looking up to someone like him, it’s not just about the saves. It’s about how you relieve the pressure on your defence and make sure they feel comfortable that you’re there behind them ready to help them out when they need it and that was the case in the second half.”

Butland did outstandingly for the Potters and I’m sure he’ll grow into a fantastic goalkeeper with time. His praise for Cech shows his ambition and it’s good to see how much he admires him.

He also spoke about his desire to become England’s number one keeper. Although admitted that he’s got a long way to go before he even thinks about trying to overtake Joe Hart.

Although Butland was great, Cech was even better and made some astonishing saves, particularly in the second half, which meant we kept yet another clean sheet and managed to bag a pretty solid point.
