Just as Daily Cannon predicted, supposed target, Inaki Williams, has signed a new contract with his current club, Athletic Biblao.

The speedy forward was briefly linked with us early in the transfer window while rumours continued to circulate about him signing a new contract with his current La Liga team. As we pointed out, this usually happens, as it gives the player’s agent some room to negotiate a better price and, lo and behold, Williams has just signed a new contract with a €50m release clause.

Bilbao obviously want to keep hold of the 21-year-old if they’re willing to tie his down until 2021. Although it’s quite interesting that the club have been so open about the release clause.

The club announced the signing of the Spain u21 via their official website, saying, “Athletic Club and Iñaki Williams have signed the renewal agreement by which the player will remain in the club until 30 June 2021.

“The cancellation clause will be 50 million Euros.”

Although the signing of the youngster seemed to be pretty improbable in the first place, considering we have enough cover in that area at the moment, we’re definitely not now.
