The Daily Mail have taken it upon themselves to rate the strikeforce of every Premier League side and have given Arsenal ‘why don’t they buy more forwards’ eight out of 10.
‘Flop’ Olivier Giroud is given a whopping nine out of 10 as the Mail shamelessly call him a ‘striker capable of winning a Premier League title…now a talisman for Arsenal’. In fact, no other player has a higher score than the Handsome one and only Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero match him on his almost perfect score.
Theo comes in with a slightly less impressive seven, bringing down the overall average score.
They only include Danny Welbeck as the other forward option at the club and give him a n/a as he hasn’t played all season. A weird choice.
Quite what Joel Campbell and Alexis Sanchez have to do to be included on the list is anyone’s guess, but we all know that they have been better this season than Feo (and Danny).
It’s not that they only picked three strikers from each side – they haven’t (and they even ranked Adebayor and gave him a five even though he’s been on holiday all season) so who knows what they were thinking.
Perhaps they simply didn’t want to make Arsenal look significantly superior to free-spending City as that would simply destroy too many narratives.
Simply the best
But Arsenal’s score of eight is the highest in the Premier League.
Manchester City come in with a 7.3 which betrays the billions spent on their squad. Chelsea get a paltry 4, Tottenham 6.7, Manchester United a 6 (which seems rather generous given they are currently boring their fans to death) and Liverpool 5.6.
We’ll take it.
