Arsenal have signed Ben Wrigglesworth from Leicester as the club look to revamp their scouting department.

The Gunners have poached the man responsible for spotting Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante and he will move the Emirates in the next few weeks after being placed on ‘gardening leave’ at Leicester ahead of the move.

Wrigglesworth is a highly-rated scout who was head of technical scouting with the Foxes and is the second member of their scouting team to leave the club in the past 18 months after Rob Mackenzie joined Tottenham in February 2015 to take up the role of head of player identification.

Arsenal are allegedly also interested in taking Steve Walsh, Leicester’s assistant boss and head of recruitment, to north London as well.

When Arsene Wenger first arrived in London he rocked the Premier League with some of his signings, especially from France. Since then, although they have unearthed the odd youth player, things on that front seem to have stagnated as other clubs played catch-up and the Gunners lost their edge.

Hopefully this will set us back on the right track and help the club find top quality players before the come with the top quality price tags.
