Benki Afobe will leave Wolves, just one year after joining them on a permanent basis, after the forward was sold to Bournemouth in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £10m.

What this means, apart from a load of irate Arsenal fans, many of whom have been asking why the club held on to Yaya Sanogo instead of Afobe, is that Arsenal look set to bring in a nice little chunk of change through a sell-on clause.

While it has not been confirmed by the club (and is not likely to be) these things are inserted into Arsenal contracts when they sell a player as standard. The percentage varies from player-to-player but we will no doubt find out more over the coming days.

With 23 goals in 48 games, the 22-year-old is a product of Arsenal’s youth academy, having joined the club aged just eight.

It is inconceivable to think that Arsenal would not look to benefit from the work they put in to developing Afobe in the first place, especially considering they received only £2m for him when he joined Wolves last January.

Despite being at Arsenal for 14 years, Afobe made not one single competitive appearance for the Gunners.

Gonna be hilarious in Goonerland when he scores against us in February.
