Much has been said of Arsenal’s need of a striker (though the Gunners have three already) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a name that keeps cropping up.

The Gabonese striker struggled at the weekend but has scored an amazing 18 Bundesliga goals for Dortmund this season already.

As a result he is probably wanted by almost everyone, including Arsenal, and we were rumoured to have made a number of enquiries this month. Here at Daily Cannon we have already explained why there’s no chance of a transfer this winter, as Aubameyang signed a deal to 2020 in the summer, and one is unlikely beyond this window. The striker wants to play in Spain eventually.

Lothar Matthäus has said it would take an offer of €100m to sign the players, but BVB chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has said the player wouldn’t even be on sale at that price.

“In all seriousness, even if such an offer would come in, that would be irrelevant for us. We are simply not selling Auba,” he told Bild.

There’s simply no way Arsenal would pay close to that for any player, and couldn’t compete with any club who would be willing to part with such a sum of money. This is a transfer – as we’ve already said – that won’t be happening.
