Arsene Wenger has well and truly set the cat amongst the pigeons by insinuating that Alexis may still play against Man City despite the forward not being ready.

Alexis has been out for a couple of weeks with a tweaked hamstring but is due to return soon. Rumour has it he was supposed to be back in time for our match against Man City. However, Wenger suspects the Chilean won’t quite be ready.

What’s slightly concerning though, is that despite Alexis not being ready, Wenger insinuated that he could still play, saying, “My people think he will not be ready but Sanchez being Sanchez…”

It’s unclear whether the manager was just poking fun at himself after being criticised for playing Alexis when he was already at risk. Alexis hates having to rest and his desire to play, even when he probably shouldn’t, has landed him and Wenger in hot water before.

I’m sure that Wenger has learnt his lesson and won’t be playing the star unless he really can.
