After Petr Cech became the goalkeeper to keep the most clean sheets in Premier League history against Bournemouth, Arsene Wenger praised the former Chelsea man.

The Czech international recently beat former England keeper, David James’, record and has gone on to set another of his own.

After the match, Wenger said that Cech should be proud of himself.

“He can be very proud of that as it is a remarkable achievement,” the boss said.

“He is gifted goalkeeper.”

The thing is, with Cech, although I’m sure he’ll be over the moon with his achievement, he’s said before that he doesn’t see personal awards as a big deal and that he just wants to help the team. By breaking these records and keeping clean sheet after clean sheet, Cech is assisting, just as Ozil is at the other end.

Petr Cech doesn’t need to individual accolades to prove that he’s doing his job but I’m sure getting recognised for being an asset for the team must feel pretty nice…
