Alexis Sanchez has suffered a setback in training and will not be back until January 10th.

It had been speculated that the Chilean would be involved in some form against Manchester City on Monday night but when the squad was announced he was nowhere to be seen.

Speaking on US TV Lee Dixon revealed that Robert Pires had told him that Sanchez had suffered a setback and this has been confirmed by Arsene Wenger in his post-match press conference.

Mirror journalist John Cross tweeted:

It means that when he returns he will have missed eight Arsenal games but could be in line to face Liverpool on January 13th.

Arsenal have played four games without him so far and have won all four.
