The best player in England has been speaking about his contract situation and how happy he is at Arsenal.

Mesut Özil assisted in the Premier League for the 14th and 15th time this season as Arsenal beat Manchester City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. Another fine and decisive performance from Özil, it’s no wonder that Arsenal have reportedly tried to open talks to extend his contract.

However, the German is not panicking over his situation at the club even though he said talks are yet to open.

“There is no rush to sign a new contract,” Ozil told kicker. “My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two and a half years. There are no talks at the moment.

“I can only say that I am very happy in London. My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one.

“There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”

Clearly there’s no reason for Arsenal fans to be concerned that he is yet to put pen to paper, as the German stressed how happy he is with the club. It’s no wonder, as he’s (rightfully) seen as the star man, something he could never have had at Real Madrid.

With four goals and 15 assists in all competitions so far this season, the midfielder may just inspire Arsenal to yet more silverware come May.
