At Daily Cannon, we’ve been keeping up-to-date with the Nolito to Arsenal rumours.

First we were interested, then Guillem Balague said it wouldn’t happen and that the Celta Vigo winger wanted a move to Barcelona. Then we were supposed to be putting in an offer and now it appears the 28-year-old is ready to sign a new contract with his current club.

In an interview with Marca, Nolito made it clear that the talk about him moving is just rumour and he actually plans on staying at Celta Vigo.

“They are only rumours. I want to be loud and clear, it is only what I have read in the press and what my friends have told me,” he said.

“I think that if Barca really want me they’ll call Celta, and as far as I know they haven’t done so.

“The truth is that I am happy in Vigo and that is why, some minor details pending, I will be renewing with Celta soon. I am only sure that I am doing well here and I have decided to renew.”

Although it appears he may be renewing his contract, it also sounds as if the only club he would be interested in moving to is Barcelona. I’m sure he does know a lot more about the situation than he’s letting on but by feigning ignorance, it gives him a bit of leverage should he want to negotiate.

If Barcelona think he wants to stay put, they’re more likely to approach him and his agent with a better offer.
