It’s been a while since Arsenal have been linked with Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne, but now the links have returned.

With all of the initial pre-transfer window focus on Arsenal’s lack of midfield options, the footballing universe had seemingly forgotten that Arsenal fans were crying out for a new forward in the summer. Or at least that was the case until now.

Calciomercarto.com have reported that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Napoli’s 24-year-old left-sided Italian forward Lorenzo Insigne ahead of a summer move. Insigne has seven goals and six assists this season from seventeen appearances and his performances have helped to ensure that Napoli are within two points of Italian league leaders Inter Milan.

However, with his agent saying in September that Insigne is happy at Napoli, and the Calciomercarto article confirming that, any talk of a move is a long way off. Napoli will be looking to agree a new deal with him in the near future and the chances are that Insigne will sign it.

Until then, there is nothing much more in this story than Arsenal scouting a player who is performing well for his club and his agent pushing behind the scenes for a contract offer. And that is anything but unusual.

If Insigne doesn’t sign a new deal though then this story could definitely get a bit more interesting.
