David James has spoken about Petr Cech breaking his goalkeeping record for the most clean sheets in the Premier League’s history.

The former England goalkeeper had a career spanning over 20 years and managed to keep 169 clean sheets in his time in the Premier League. However, now it’s time for a new man to step up, which Cech did on Monday against Bournemouth after keeping his 170th clean sheet.

James has praised the former Chelsea man, calling him the most ‘stubborn’ goalkeeper he’s ever known.

“I have to say that, of all the goalkeepers that I’ve played against, you have been the most stubborn,” he said.

“Your record proves that you should be the holder of this record and I’m sure that will be extended for a long, long time yet. I can’t think of a better goalkeeper to be in that position. Well done.”

It’s touching the see the ex-record holder praising the new one and hailing the Czech international’s ability on the pitch. Although most know how amazing Cech is, stats like this are what truly prove it and makes us signing him in the summer even more crucial to our season. Cech is currently one of our top players and to have him at the club is brilliant.
