Calum Chambers made a rare midfield start for Arsenal in our 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Monday night.

The right-back hasn’t had the best time at the back and this, combined with injury, has meant he hasn’t been able to properly break into the first team. However, recently he revealed that he’s been playing as a defensive midfielder for the youth team and it appears this could be a better position for the youngster.

Against Bournemouth, the former Southampton man made a nervy start, as did the rest of the team, but he soon warmed into the game and did a good job.

Speaking afterwards, he admitted that he’s enjoying his football there.

“I’m enjoying it,” he said.

“The past couple of weeks I have been training in midfield and I have been getting more confidence and I felt good and it was a great result and a great game.”

It’s fantastic to see the youngster relishing the chance in a new position and the fact that he did so well when we needed to bounce back from the disappointing loss against his former team says a lot about his professionalism and maturity.
