Arsenal are reportedly looked towards the Bundesliga to sort out our midfield problems.

Namely, 23-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The Swiss player has already made 22 appearances for his team this season and even scored three goals.

After Coquelin was ruled out for months with a serious knee injury, Arsenal apparently started the hunt for a replacement defensive midfielder. With Mathieu Flamini unlikely to stay at the club much longer and Arteta both injured and ageing, it’s looking like the right time to dip into the market.

Although Xhaka has a contract with Monchengladbach for another four years and has mentioned that he’s happy there, I’m sure if a club like Arsenal did come sniffing around he wouldn’t be apposed to a move.

Considering our options, he’s looking like a good bet and probably one of the more likely players we’ve been linked with. He’s young but experienced, versatile, scores goals and plays in the position we need to strengthen in.
