The latest youngster linked with a move to north London is Barcelona’s up-and-coming defensive midfielder, Sergi Samper.

The 20-year-old has only made nine appearances for the Catalan senior team. However, the youngster has been a main asset for the B team, featuring 88 times.

With Francis Coquelin out for months, strengthening our midfield is likely one of our main priorities come the January transfer window and therefore, buying a youngster who could fill in until the Frenchman returns might be a sensible move.

Barcelona are reportedly asking for £4.4m in order for us to sign Samper, as they’re keen to keep him. However, if he sorts out our midfield problems, surely this will seem like small change?

The Spaniard is one of the more likely prospects being linked to us at the moment and therefore is one to keep an eye on, but by the looks of things we’re placing all our eggs in one Egyptian basket.
