Alexis Sanchez has returned to Chile to recover from the hamstring injury which is set to keep him sidelined for the next few weeks.

Speaking to Radio Tele13 in the country, Jorge Sampaoli confirmed that Alexis would be back in the country after he had spoken with the doctors at Arsenal.

“We have contact with (Arsenal’s) physicians,” Sampaoli said. “[They) gave him a week to come to Chile.

“We have to see how it is for a speedy recovery to be made, we are aware of everything to see if we can contribute to getting Alexis back on the pitch faster.”

Picking up the injury at the weekend during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Norwich at Carrow Road, the Chilean is just one of a number of players to pick up injuries over recent weeks but is likely to be one of the first back in action.

The hamstring injury is said to be not as bad as first feared and it is hoped that he will return in time to face Manchester City on December 21st.
