With Monday night’s game between Arsenal and Manchester City on the horizon, the Citizens have received mixed injury news.

Captain Vincent Company was ruled out by Manuel Pellegrini in Friday’s press conference. The Belgian hasn’t played since the eight of November and has struggled with injuries throughout the season.

In the Premier League, City are unbeaten with Kompany in the side this season, conceding just once in eight games. Without him, they have conceded 16 times in eight matches and not kept a single clean sheet.

“He is improving,” Pellegrini told the press. “I hope next week he will start working with the squad.”

There’s also a blow for Arsenal in the shape of Sergio Agüero. The Argentine has returned to training this week and Pellegrini confirmed he will make the squad on Monday evening.

“Kun [Agüero] is working with the squad.

“We will assess if he is 100 percent or not but he is working without problems. I think he will be in the squad.”

The striker scored in last season’s 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium and, though he regularly suffers with injuries, is by far the most dangerous forward in the Premier League. He’s managed a goal just over every 90 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, and is Manchester City’s top goalscorer by some distance despite the time he has had to miss.

With Kompany out and Agüero available, expect goals at both ends on Monday.
