Kieran Gibbs came on in the second half while Arsenal were 1-0 down against Spurs to put the Gunners on level terms.

In a match where we probably didn’t even deserve a point, the defender, who hasn’t seen much game time recently, was a shining beacon of hope. Hope that we could actually get something from the terrible display of a match.

After the match, Arsene Wenger was quick to praise Gibbs following his goal and complimented the player’s intelligence.

“Overall it worked,” the boss said. “He got in good positions and showed he is an intelligent player.”

Before the Spurs game, Gibbs had only managed to make 10 appearances for Arsenal this season due to Monreal taking a permanent place in the starting 11.

Having the fresh legs on the pitch instantly gave us a boost going forward and we continued to attack until the final whistle, although if we had grabbed another goal and won, Spurs would have undoubtedly felt incredibly hard done by.

All we can do now is go away on international duty, rest, repair and get ready for the next game.
