Chelsea lost yet another match on Saturday against Liverpool leaving them in 15th in the league after 11 matches, but Wenger refused to be drawn on our rival’s form just yet in his post-match press conference.

Instead the boss opted to focus on Arsenal’s performances, rather than looking at what others are doing – something he’s always encouraged.

“I think it is better I don’t talk too much about that,” he said when asked about the Blues.

“Let’s focus on our game. We have made a little difference with some teams. Let’s focus on the quality of our game and keep a good balance between hunger, humility and confidence and not look too much at the other teams.”

Wenger’s refusal to slate other teams, no matter how badly they’re doing and how much the manager has slated him, just shows how he’s a class above the rest.

He’s completely right, of course. If we start looking too closely at what the teams around us (or should be around us) are doing, we run the risk of losing focus of what we’re doing. We’ve made a huge amount of progress; that has nothing to do with anyone else.

Of course, towards the end of the season measuring up our opposition can be useful but at this point, it wouldn’t help us at all.
