After a disappointing 2-1 loss against West Brom, Arsene Wenger insisted that Arsenal are still fighters.

According to the boss, the team were focused and ready for battle before the match. With all due respect, what changed? Of course there were factors which indicated our luck just wasn’t there – Ozil’s shot off the post, for example. However, we weren’t on our game in general.

“We are fighters,” Wenger said.

“We were highly focused ahead of the game.”

Although I understand the need for the boss to support his team, if we were ready to win all three points before the game, why did we set foot on the pitch with our tails already between our legs?

We didn’t start strongly, in fact, West Brom were on the front foot before we scored. Therefore, when they did come back to not only equalise but go ahead, it wasn’t all that surprising.

Perhaps I’m being harsh. We did show some ‘fight’ in the latter stages of the match but it was all too little too late.
