Arsenal had representatives on both benches on Friday evening as England took on Spain in Alicante.

The full 90 minutes was watched by Kieran Gibbs, but Santi Cazorla got on the pitch after just 27 minutes with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara picking up an injury.

Last weekend the Arsenal midfielder struggled and was subbed off at half-time, so Arsène Wenger will be relieved to see that he may have refund his touch five days on. Cazorla’s passing wasn’t at its best, but a left-footed goal showed he still has his touch.

Cazorla’s goal was his 14th for Spain, and his third in two international breaks after he netted twice against Luxembourg back in October. It gave Spain a 2-0 lead after Mario Gaspar’s opener, and effectively ended the game with just five minutes remaining.

After starting on the bench on Friday, Cazorla has every chance of starting against Belgium to earn his 78th cap for his country on Tuesday night. Likewise, Kieran Gibbs could start for England who host France at Wembley. Ryan Bertrand was given the nod in Alicante, but Gibbs could be given his shot in midweek.

Most importantly, both players are injury free after Friday evening’s events!
