Wanted by some of England’s biggest clubs, Kelechi Nwakali is still holding out for a move to Arsenal.

The Nigerian midfielder was crowned the best player at the recent u17 World Cup (which featured our own Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Chris Willock, Stephy Mavididi and Kaylen Hinds) as his country went on to win the entire competition.

He recently said he would be interested in playing for Arsenal rather than any other club in the world, despite interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.

His agent, Klay Ekeocha, has now revealed that work is being done to try and find him a club in Europe but Arsenal don’t appear to be interested in the player just yet.

“We have been in touch with Arsenal,” explained Ekeocha. “There has been no feedback [or bid] as yet though.”

So titles like the Metro’s ‘Agent confirms Arsenal in talks to sign…’ are plain wrong. They’re misleading and it’s just silly. If i called Arsenal and asked for a trial would I ‘be in talks to sign for the club’? Of course I wouldn’t, it’s nonsense.

Kelechi Nwakali is clearly a very talented young man and he appears to be interested in playing for our club. With others circling, maybe we will make a move. For now, though, we don’t seem to reciprocating the interest.
