Arsenal youngsters Calum Chambers and Chuba Akpom both started as England’s perfect start to UEFA u21 European Championship qualifiers was ended in Bosnia.

Partnered by Jack Stephens, who he would have played with in the Southampton youth setup, Chambers helped England to a clean sheet as the Three Lions went on to draw 0-0.

Chuba Akpom started up front after netting his first England u21 goal in the previous international break. He couldn’t manage the same to break the deadlock this time around and found himself substituted for Duncan Watmore after 70 minutes.

At the back, Chambers was left to his own devices with Stephens red carded with 16 minutes left to play. Despite receiving a booking himself 10 minutes later, he helped England to a clean sheet and their seventh point of the group stage.

You would expect England’s biggest challenge for qualification to come from Switzerland and Norway, who are both also on seven points after drawing against each other a month ago. England have already beaten the Norwegian side and have a game in hand, while they face Switzerland at the weekend.

Hopefully another good result will leave them in a strong position to qualify.
