After scoring again v Swansea in the Premier League on Saturday, Olivier Giroud once again showed how he’s a team player by focussing on Arsenal’s performance, rather than his goal.

Despite making the history books after Arsenal scored their 2000th goal under Arsene Wenger, the striker was more eager to talk about our performance as a team rather than the achievement.

He also didn’t shy away from talking about how poor we were in the first half.

“We are really pleased with the second half because the first one we had trouble,” he said. “We were struggling with playing our game as it was too slow.

“We were not playing quick enough through the lines so that is what we succeeded to do in the second half so it is nice ahead of the game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

“As a striker it is always a pleasure to win, to score again and I will remember the good solidarity.”

He added, “We never give up, even when it is tough for us against a good team.

“We knew it was going to be difficult but we stayed focused and we are really pleased with the three points.”

Giroud has shown time and time again how he’s a team player. When he wasn’t getting picked regularly for the starting 11, he always said the good of the team was his top priority, not personal glory.

The Frenchman has only proved this further by merely acknowledging his goal and hailing the Gunners’ overall display against the Swans.

It’s a fantastic trait to have and probably why he connects so well with Mesut Ozil, who assisted his header from a corner.
