For any regular watchers of the Bundesliga, Granit Xhaka has quite the reputation.

A very talented playmaker who sits at the base of the Borussia Mönchengladbach midfield, Xhaka is a superb footballer and SportBild (per Sport Witness) say Arsenal are interested in the Switzerland international.

The 23-year-old has a €30m release clause, but that isn’t active until 2017 so Gladbach would be looking for more money if Arsenal were hoping to sign him within the next year or so. With Santi Cazorla turning 31 in December, Mathieu Flamini likely to be released in the summer and Mikel Arteta wearing down his last legs Arsenal will need a new midfielder soon and Xhaka fits the bill.

Unfortunately, he can be a bit too eager to defend. In 11 Bundesliga games this season, Xhaka has been booked four times and sent off for picking up two bookings in a game on a further two occasions. Last season he picked up 10 booking and a further red card in 30 Bundesliga games. Do Arsenal need that?

Well, he would probably be worth it for his ability when he hasn’t lost his head. This may be an interesting one to watch, as it makes sense. Gladbach wouldn’t be in a position to turn down a huge bid, even though they will be reluctant to sell. Furthermore, The Swiss fits the bill for Arsenal.

Will the Gunners launch a move?
