Joel Campbell has picked up a calf problem and will be assessed before Arsenal’s game against Norwich.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arsene Wenger admitted that both Alexis Sanchez and Joel Campbell had problems that would need to be checked before the game on Sunday.

Alexis is carrying a slight hamstring problem which will need to be monitored while Campbell, who enjoyed his best night in an Arsenal shirt on Tuesday, has a calf problem.

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returning to the squad, Joel Campbell’s absence, should he be ruled out for the game against the Canaries, should not cause too many problems but it is another niggle that will be of concern to the Arsenal medical staff, especially considering how often Arsenal players pick up muscular injuries at this time of the year.

Is there something wrong with how the players are conditioned that means they fall apart after three months of the season?

Granted, a calf or hamstring tweak hardly constitutes ‘falling apart’ but when viewed as part of a larger picture, they do become more than a little concerning, no matter how mild the problem is.
