Theo Walcott scored his seventh goal for England against Estonia but still didn’t get the nod ahead of Spurs’ Harry Kane v Lithuania.

Theo is in the form of his life right now. So far this season he’s scored four goals and created the same amount from playing in a central striker’s role. However, although Arsene Wenger is consistently giving him the chance to start for Arsenal, Roy Hodgson hasn’t done the same for the national team.

It makes you wonder whether the 26-year-old will ever truly be recognised as a striker, or if he’s just played as a winger for so long that he can’t shake it.

I’m actually one of the people who believed Theo wouldn’t make it as a striker. I didn’t think he was lethal enough in front of goal, he was always wandering offside, and he simply wasn’t strong enough. However, the Englishman has been working on a number of parts to his game, particularly his hold up play and movement off the ball, and he’s looking every inch the striker he always wanted to be.

All Theo can do is continue to perform when given the chance. If he keeps scoring and playing his socks off for Arsenal, and producing when he is called upon for England, it’s only a matter of time before he’d taken seriously as a striker.
