Thierry Henry returned to Arsenal recently to help coach our attacking youth players and it’s since become evident that some of our senior players are also keen on asking the legend for advice.

Theo Walcott recently revealed that he has no qualms with asking the Frenchman for tips and that his advice has really helped his goalscoring. The forward is now playing in a more central role and appears to be relishing his chance in the first team, scoring for both club and country regularly.

Now, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has decided to ‘have a few words’ with Henry in order to hone his own ability.

“I might have to have a few words with Thierry,” the 22-year-old said. “I think there’s no better man to advice you on how to get a goal here or there.

“It definitely something I think of. It’s something as an attacking player you have to be aware of.”

Alex continued, “You can’t force it too much because you start to do the wrong things on the pitch if you try to force shots that are not on. It is definitely something I think about and work on.

“I watch games back and see positions, its more so for me getting in the right positions to score the easy goals as they say.

“There’s no easy goals but the tap-ins at the back post and stuff like that. That’s something I’m more conscious of.

“Its definitely something I’m aware of so if I am able to get in the scoresheet is something I’m happy about it. It is something I obviously want to contribute more.”

The Ox has found it hard to get consistent game time this season, particularly at Arsenal. He’s looks energetic and fresh when he does come on but hasn’t uncovered that cutting edge to justify a starting position just yet.

Having someone like Henry active at the club is a huge tool for our attacking players and it’d be foolish to not ask advice from one of the best forwards in the world. The fact that Henry is coaching clearly shows he doesn’t mind handing down his wisdom and it’s probably nice to feel included in the current squad.

Ask away, lads.
