In the lead up to his press conference ahead of the Bayern Munich game it was being claimed that Arsene Wenger would rest Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Madness! We all exclaimed and it got some people wondering if the boss really would sacrifice the Champions League to try and secure domestic glory.

Those of us who have been paying attention, however, for the past 20 years, knew that there would be no way that Wenger would do that, especially not against one of the biggest sides on the planet.

Not only does he want to win the Champions League before he retires, he also wants to show the world that his side can compete with anyone – leaving Ozil and Sanchez out would not send that message.

Speaking at his press conference on Monday, Wenger was asked if he’d be leaving the duo out and he replied “No. You would be surprised if I told you that I would rest them tomorrow, so I can tell you certainly not. Normally they should play tomorrow.”

Even if he wanted to, could you imagine trying to tell Alexis he wasn’t going to feature?
