Aaron Ramsey’s Welsh side have qualified for Euro 2016 despite losing to Bosnia on Saturday night.

A 2-0 defeat wasn’t enough worry Wales, as Israel lost to Cyprus in another Group B game. Milan Djuric and Vedad Ibisevic scored in the second half to beat Wales, but Aaron Ramsey was still left celebrating by the final whistle.

A cagey first half saw Ramsey and Gareth Bale draw a number of fouls, but Wales failed to make the most of the set-piece opportunities and couldn’t force anything through open play. Ramsey hit two speculative efforts but didn’t trouble Asmir Begović.

With Bosnia chasing a win to keep their hopes of managing a play-off place alive, the game could have been quite open but Wales were fairly reluctant to commit too many bodies forward. A long ball bounced through the Welsh defence and was met by big striker Milan Djuric, who looped a header over Wayne Hennessey and in.

As the game went on Ramsey was becoming increasingly frustrated and was booked before Vedad Ibisevic of Hertha Berlin doubled the lead.

A late penalty shout for Ramsey was ignored but, ultimately, it didn’t matter.

By the time the summer rolls around it would have been 58 years since Wales took part at a major tournament, as they compete at their first ever European Championships. Hopefully Ramsey has a successful season with Arsenal before heading off to represent his country.
