Juventus are reportedly eyeing up unhappy Mathieu Debuchy in order to replace Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Debuchy hasn’t hidden his desire to leave Arsenal if he doesn’t start getting some regular playing time. However, inadequate performances against the likes of Dinamo Zagreb and Spurs so far this season have meant that he sits firmly behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order.

The Frenchman clearly wants to play football but while Bellerin’s in form, there’s no getting past him into the first team.

Selling Debuchy would be an interesting move because although he’s not been great, he’s still cover if Bellerin were to pick up an injury. Although we have Calum Chambers, he’s relatively inexperienced and has shown on a couple of occasions that he doesn’t respond well to pressure. Pressure that he would no doubt be under if he had to step into Bellerin’s shoes.

I think it’s pretty clear that Debuchy will be leaving either during the winter transfer window or next summer, it’s just a matter of how we respond.
