Ronald Koeman might just be my new favourite person after completely tearing apart Jose Mourinho’s tactics this season, while simultaneously praising Arsenal’s attacking style.

The Southampton boss recently beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge 3-1, leaving Chelsea firmly towards the bottom of the table in 16th, with just eight points from eight games, and was unimpressed with the defensive tactics deployed by Mourinho.

Koeman went on to compare Chelsea to Arsenal, calling our style of football ‘impressive’ and mentioning our 3-0 ‘destroying’ of Manchester United.

“Chelsea prefer to defend when attacking is also an option,” he said.

“Mourinho always chooses to defend. Even if his team goes 1-0 up, they would rather defend their lead than try to score more goals.

“Yet Arsenal can kill an opponent. That is why their victory against Manchester United was so impressive.

“Attacking-wise, they completely destroyed United. For 20 minutes, they played the most fantastic football, while Chelsea do the opposite thing.

“By defending, Chelsea give their opponent a chance to come back in the game.”

It’s good to see other managers not just complimenting Arsenal out of respect for the club and Wenger, but because they’re genuinely in awe of the football we’re playing.

Against Man United we looked unstoppable and if we can start to get some of that fear back when teams visit the Emirates, it’ll be useful.

For a long time, teams have known they can come to our home and beat us comfortably. Now, they’ll think twice.
