Former Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has named Petr Čech in his all-time top three Premier League goalkeepers.

The 43-year-old is still playing in the Premier League for Leicester City, and was quick to name Čech – who he was a team-mate of for two seasons – as one of the very best.

“He came to the English Premier League at a very young age at a very big club in Chelsea,” Schwarzer said of his former team-mate. “From day one [he] played very very well and became one of the best players in Chelsea’s history.”

Čech was sold to Arsenal in the summer but is undoubtedly a Chelsea legend; their loss has been our gain.

In eight Premier League games, the goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets on top of one in the Community Shield defeat of his old club. An incredible performance against Liverpool saw Čech truly arrive at the Emirates Stadium, and he was in good company on Mark Schwarzer’s list.

The Australian also named ex-Manchester United goalkeepers Edwin van der Sar and Peter Schmeichel in his top three.
