Despite a dreary first half performance, Arsenal managed to pull off an impressive 3-0 win against Swansea City.

If you’re anything like me, you were pretty glad to see us at 0-0 going in at half time.

Goodness knows what Wenger’s half time talk involved but we were a different team when we came out and played like men possessed. Ozil in particular was superb again and grabbed another two assists, while Bellerin, Campbell and Cech also did their bits for the team.

As a general disclaimer, I’m trying to forget the first half happened so these ratings should be taken on our second half performance.

First half, what first half? Am I right?

Petr Cech – 8

Despite a shaky first half from our outfield players, the goalkeeper kept a clean sheet, putting Gomis off in the 21st minute, saving a Gomis header in the 27th and making a couple of key saves after our first goal to keep us 1-0 up.

Hector Bellerin – 8

The youngster had a superb match. In the 21st minute he sprinted back to make an amazing tackle on Gomis to deny him a goal and in the 55th minute made a crucial clearance, causing himself to clatter into goal post.

Laurent Koscielny – 7.5

The centre back made a couple of errors early on but went on in the second half to have a solid match and get his second goal in a week.

Per Mertesacker – 7

A momentary lapse of judgement in which he stepped in front of Gomis to allow the striker one-on-one with Cech pretty much summed up Arsenal’s entire first half. He also could have given away a penalty in the first half after hitting the ball from a free-kick away with his arm.

Nacho Monreal – 7.5

The Spaniard had one of our only shots of the first half and went on the half a solid match.

Francis Coquelin 7.5

The midfielder had another solid game, making a key interception in the box on the 25th minute.

Santi Cazorla – 7.5

The Spaniard was instrumental to everything in the opening minutes but then soon became anonymous, along with the rest of the midfield. Luckily, in the second half he came back to life.

Joel Campbell – 8

The forward had a great game. He didn’t quit, both in terms of defensive work and attacking. After losing ball, he didn’t stop chasing to win it back. He came close to scoring in the 16th minute; he had a shot but didn’t connect properly with ball.

His hard work paid off in the second half when he scored our third and final goal of the afternoon.

Mesut Ozil – 9

The German had another stunning match and got two more assists.

Alexis – 8.5

The Chilean was a huge part of our attack, as always, and constantly looked a threat in the second half.

Olivier Giroud – 7.5

The striker missed a huge chance in the 29th minute where he was left in loads of space and failed to hit the target with his left foot. Luckily, he made up for it and scored shortly after half time.
