They’re already world champions, but Germany keep churning out high quality talent and there’s nothing the rest of the world can do about it.

Look at the u21 squad and you will see players who play regularly for some of Europe’s top teams. The u17 side, led by star of the Borussia Dortmund u19 team Felix Passlack, are one of the favourites to win the upcoming World Cup for their age group. Germany are doing a lot of things right.

One current star who is impressed is Arsenal’s very own Mesut Özil, who was handed his Schalke debut at the age of 18. The midfielder played every game as Germany won the World Cup in 2014, and is predicting even more success in the future.

“I think that will be the case for years to come because the work with youth teams in Germany is very good,” he told Arsenal Player.

“When I have free time or am in Germany, I sometimes go and watch youth matches and you can see that there is a lot of potential and much emphasis is put on the development of young players.

“That has distinguished Germany in recent years. When you look at the senior side, you see a lot of young players with a lot of quality.”

He’s right. Much of the current senior squad is still young, but are already forging an incredible history. Mesut turns 27 next week but is closing in on 70 caps. Players like him, Mats Hummels, Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boating and Thomas Müller are young enough to play at one more World Cup at the very least, but have a wealth of experience to call upon.

Despite a loss to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday night, the current Germany setup – and the youth teams – are absolutely full of talent. Özil’s right to be excited.
