Captain Per Mertesacker hailed Arsenal’s performance against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday and admitted that sometimes we need reminding of just how good we are.

The opening 20 minutes was unreal and we scored all three goals during this time. A brace from Alexis and one from Ozil put the game out of sight early on and the Red Devils just couldn’t cope with our fast-paced game.

The BFG admitted that a strong start had been our aim and that it shouldn’t be a shock to the team because they know what they’re capable of. However, the defender acknowledges that sometimes we do need reminding.

“Yes, we pushed really hard in the first ten or 15 minutes, and after that we tried to defend as well as possible, and most of the time we did that,” the centre-back said.

“The start was not shocking for us, I think we are capable of doing that, but we have to kind of remind ourselves that we can do such things.”

While the performance against United was amazing, we’ve shown we’re not exactly capable of consistency in the recent past, particularly in the Champions League. Our league form, however, has come along leaps and bounds and we’re now looking like genuine title contenders.
