Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez both had outstanding performances against Manchester United in the Premier League and Per Mertesacker had high praise for them post-match.

The centre-back praised his fellow countryman and Alexis after their stunning performance against the Red Devils. Both players scored, with the Chilean slotting home a sublime brace and the two players linking up seamlessly.

“It’s very important that [Alexis and Ozil] find each other in the final third,” Per said.

“You could see the little pass from Theo Walcott to Mesut Ozil, how important that was, just a tiny little ball, and on the break we are very dangerous, and even more so with the two players you mentioned.”

Our two star players were always going to link up and do mindblowing things on the pitch. This much was a given. Two players of their quality simply couldn’t play together week in, week out and not learn each other’s traits and styles.

However, the way in which they’ve clicked in amazing to watch and above all, exciting. Alexis has hit his form after scoring six goals in eight days. A brace against Man United is no joke. And Ozil also appears to be finding his stride.

In addition Theo is proving almost everyone, including me, wrong.
