Arsenal Ladies’ coach, Pedro Martinez Losa, has spoken about how happy he is with the quality of his current team.

After beating Birmingham City 1-0 and climbing to third in the FA WSL, as well as beating Manchester City Women to get to the semi-finals of the Continental Cup, the boss is more than pleased with the ladies.

“Casey Stoney and Jemma Rose are two players who have been very consistent, especially in the final part of this season,” Losa said. “Jade Bailey and Dominique Janssen have been very positive. Chioma Ubogagu is scoring goals also in important games.

“They have changed their style of play, they play from the back now. We have put them in a situation where they have to make decisions with the ball. They probably are not used to that and I’m very proud.”

He continued, “Players like Carla Humphrey, Leah Williamson and Chloe Kelly have not had too many opportunities but they work hard and make our level higher every training session.

“We wish we could give them more opportunities and maybe more games but we are very impressed and very positive for the future.”

The ladies have been on the wrong end of some not-so-good results this season, for example, losing 3-1 to Liverpool in July, but things have picked up and we seem to be doing well and playing some decent football.

Arsenal’s next fixture is the semi-final Continental Cup match against Birmingham City and after beating them very recently, the ladies should be feeling well-prepared and confident. However, as we always say, the job on the pitch still needs to be done.

Hopefully the ladies are successful and bring in another piece of silverware for the club.
