Just a week ago Aaron Ramsey had the right midfield slot nailed down.

Theo Walcott had exclusively been used up front this season and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was badly struggling for form. The other options for the right wing are Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere, but neither has played yet this season and both are recovering from surgery.

Then Ramsey’s hamstring went against Bayern Munich. Not to worry! Oxlade-Chamberlain will deputise. For two starts, he did. Five minutes into his second start in 70-odd hours, his hamstring went. What next? Walcott back out wide?

That only lasted 15 minutes. Arsenal are now arguably without each all five of their players most likely to play on the right flank. An unenviable situation, and one which will probbaly force Arsène Wenger into a decision he wouldn’t like to make.

Sixth in line for that place in the team is arguably Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who is only 17 and is currently with the French U17 team at the World Cup. Serge Gnabry and Ainsley Maitland-Niles would also be options, but they’re out on loan at West Brom and Ipswich Town respectively.

So Joel Campbell – yet to score for Arsenal and not really wanted by anyone – and Alex Iwobi are the remaining options. It seems as though Wenger is reluctant to use either player regularly, but his hand will be forced now with key games against Swansea City and Bayern Munich coming up.
