Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich laboured to a goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night in their last game before Arsenal visit the Allianz Arena.

After beating the Bundesliga champions just under two weeks ago, Arsène Wenger’s side will be hoping for a repeat performance on the fourth Champions League matchday of the season and will be encouraged by the manner in which Bayern’s domestic winning run ended.

Frankfurt lined up defensively but had the better share of the chances in the second half, as Bayern struggled to find the sort of rhythm which helped them put three past VfL Wolfsburg in midweek.

Guardiola’s side had Douglas Costa, Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski leading the charge and they were joined by Thomas Müller moments into the second half.

Müller, along with David Alaba and Thiago Alcantara, started on the bench as Guardiola must have already had one eye on the Gunners.

None of those stars could inspire the opening goal, ending Bayern’s run of 10 straight Bundesliga wins since the start of the season. They are human after all!

Wenger has Swansea on Saturday to concentrate on, but he will surely feel encouraged by Bayern’s second failure to win in the last four games. Can Arsenal give an inspiring repeat performance at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday?
