Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny missed the 3-0 defeat of Manchester United, but the Gunners are hoping he will be fit to face Bayern Munich.

According to ESPN FC and their mysterious sources, the club are optimistic that the Frenchman will be back in time for the huge game against the German champions on 20th October.

Koscielny limped off injured in the disappointing 3-2 defeat to Olympiacos, but Arsenal managed to beat Manchester United 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium just days later with Gabriel partnering Per Mertesacker at the heart of the defence.

Currently sitting out the international break, Koscielny will have to recover from his hamstring injury in time to prove his fitness for the huge Champions League clash, is that really likely? Gabriel and Mertesacker can be trusted as a partnership, and the Beryn game comes just three weeks after the game which saw Koscielny pick up his injury.

Understandably, Arsenal will want everyone back for such a huge clash. After losing two group games so far, Arsenal need to take something off Bayern to have a chance of qualifying. Maybe the game against the Germans at the Allianz Arena a fortnight later is a more realistic target for the centre-half?

The 30-year-old is needed but, with a Premier League title race on the cards, is Arsène Wenger likely to take such a huge risk?
