Alex Iwobi wants a loan move away from Arsenal and soon, his father has recently confirmed.

The 19-year-old has made seven appearances for our youth squad and scored twice this season. However, despite having a promising pre-season in which he scored during the Emirates Cup, the forward hasn’t had a clean break in the first team since.

His father has now confirmed that Iwobi wants a loan move away from Arsenal to get some serious playing time at a competitive level.

The youngster is keen for the move not to be permanent, however, as he wants to ultimately return to Arsenal a stronger player in order to challenge for the first team.

“A few clubs in the United Kingdom and abroad have approached Arsenal to take Alex on loan,” his dad said.

“But Arsene Wenger wants him to be with the first team because he did very well in pre-season.

“Alex’s preferred option at this stage is to go on loan to gain first-team experience and come back to Arsenal later on to fight for a place.”

A loan move would be excellent for Iwobi, of that there is no doubt, but with so many other players temporarily out at various clubs, we’ll be left with no one in our youth squad at all.
