Jack Wilshere was a guest on Sky Sports Goals on Sunday and the midfielder gave an update regarding the injury that has kept him out since the start of the season.

Picking up a leg break thanks to a tackle by Gabriel in training just before the Community Shield game against Chelsea, Jack was forced to undergo an operation five weeks ago that meant that he will be sidelined until Christmas at least.

Asked about the injury, Jack revealed that this one has been the toughest to deal with mentally has he had managed to get a full pre-season under his belt and was raring to go for the new campaign.

“I’m pain-free, out of the boot, off the crutches and moving around,” Jack said before going on to say that he wouldn’t change how he played in order to try and reduce the number of injuries he picked up.

“Ideally yes [I’d change the way I play].

“I want to play every week and be fit for as many games as possible but if I don’t play the way I want, I won’t be the same player.

“[The] boss always says you’ve got to train as you play, and maybe in training I do need to calm down a bit.”

Jack was reluctant to put a date on his return, pointing to previous times when he has perhaps returned a little behind schedule prompting people to speculate that he had suffered a setback but added “I’m in the gym every day, on the bike, the cross trainer, but once you get out there running it’s totally different.”
