Following his red card against Chelsea, Gabriel has spoken to ESPN Brasil in an interview translated by @aliladiere on Twitter about the support of Arsenal fans.

The defender was shown a red card by Mike Dean following an altercation with Diego Costa before the Blues went on to win 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, and the defender was clearly concerned that Arsenal fans wouldn’t take it well.

The defender was criticised by Arsène Wenger after the game but it’s clear he didn’t mean to cause any harm, and next time he faces such an opponent he’ll be better prepared for what could happen.

“God is always fair but I should have listened to my manager and Cech when they said not to react to Costa. We will play again,” Gabriel said.

“I have been tested by Costa before in Spain, I think he knows that we were causing him issues, but this is life, we move on.”

Building more on the support he received from the fans, Gabriel has done even more to endear himself to the Emirates Stadium faithful. Solid performances are being repeated and he is quickly becoming a crowd favourite.

Everyone, then, will be glad to hear he’s happy with us too.

“I want to stay here for a very long time, I don’t speak the language yet but I feel at home and this club is perfect for me.

“The Arsenal fans make you realise how big this club is, I will post one picture and my phone will go crazy for 3 days.”

Yeah, Arsenal Twitter will do that.

Gabriel hasn’t been called up for Dunga’s latest Brazil squad so will be at London Colney for the next week and a bit before his team-mates arrive to prepare for the Premier League game against Watford.

Laurent Koscielny may be ready to return by then but, on current form, it’ll take a lot to get Gabriel out of the side.
