Gabriel has called upon his Gunner’s teammates to be ‘calm’ ahead of their showdown this weekend with league leaders Manchester United while revealing that he is ‘sad’ about how things went on Tuesday night.

You and me both, mate.

The Brazilian, who was speaking to Arsenal.com after the defeat to Olympiacos, is available to play after serving his one game suspension for complaining about being sent off when he shouldn’t have been sent off.

With Laurent Koscielny picking up a hamstring injury it’s as well that the FA saw sense (to a certain degree) otherwise we’d be facing up to Louis van Gaal’s men, who need no helping hand to win at the Emirates, with a centreback pairing of Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers.

“It was a complicated night [against Olympiacos],” Gabriel said. “We were in a good place in the first half, defending well, we were happy. But the three goals were our own fault.

“We only have ourselves to blame for conceding them and now we have to rest, work harder, and then on Sunday come back and have a good game.

“We just need to be calm. We have to work hard and focus on putting in a good performance [against Manchester United].

“I am sad that we lost an important game at home. But we can still qualify. We have a very strong team, with some very good players. We now have to try to win the remaining matches in the group.”

Arsenal know that should they win the game on Sunday a lot of the wounds re-opened on Tuesday night will be healed somewhat, such is the fickle nature of football these days.

They also know that they have the most awful track record against United.

So.

Yeah.
